In addition to the DESTE Foundation’s regular exhibition program in Athens, a number of events are facilitated outside its premises. In 2008, the Municipality of the Island of Hydra granted DESTE the island’s old slaughterhouse. Functioning as the DESTE Project Space Slaughterhouse since 2009, every summer the Foundation asks a single artist or team invited to stage a unique, site-specific exhibition and in 2017 David Shrigley was commissioned to create an artwork for Deste. 

Laughterhouse was a presentation in the Slaughterhouse of a documentary film about goats whose cries sound like those of human beings. Shrigley asked Baker to create music that utilised these sounds, and Baker & Borowski performed the piece for 700 people on the island.
